Project DESCRIPTION:

Alastair Falconer was engaged to produce a Functional Design Brief (FDB) for a 4200m2 future Questacon extension and a 1000m2 outdoor gallery/garden area with significant enclosed new carparking.

The FDB involved a detailed study of how the organisation as a whole and exhibition components functioned at the time, and how they should function in an expanded facility. The analysis included planning for the flow of people in the public spaces as well as the use of back of house areas, exhibit fabrication/installation and vehicular access. The brief established the basic design parameters for the extension and a detailed breakdown of the requirements of each additional space.
