Questacon LOBBY, café & TICKETING

Location: parkes, a.c.t

CLIENT: DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRY, SCIENCE & RESOURCES

Project DESCRIPTION:

Working within the fabric of an iconic public building this project involved a major rearrangement of the indoor public space to more appropriately suit the Questacon exhibition sequence and functionality. The ticketing and lobby help desk provided an articulated efficient flow of people that maintained the original intention of the lobby, with an easy and clear visual articulation of where you need to go.

The shop was relocated to the side adjacent the exit and provided a creative space to shop allowing the public to either enter and spend time or move on to lobby.

The design solution for the cafeteria permitted the use of the forecourt and used a combination of timber acoustic baffles to hide services and reduce noise. The illuminated servery counter and vibrant colours to create a lively warm environment, with accessible facilities.

Our involvement included the:

  • Replanning and designing the ticketing facilities & help desk.

  • Relocation of the Questacon shop

  • Design of the Café
