K-Space
K-space is a vibrant and engaging gallery deigned for school students to take part in the creation of an interactive computer generated exhibit. The gallery faced the garden of Australian Dreams and aimed to maintain and open and well lit aspect, The use of natural light required careful control of glare, and spacial arrangements supported group participation. K-Space included a rear projection stand up theatre at the back where visitors could view their computer creations.
Broadcast Studio
Television and radio studio with full capabilities for live broadcasting to support outreach museum programs. It includes a studio floor and production control room,
circa
Designed as a revolving theatre and entry into the gallery areas', Circa provided an active preview of the different exhibitions of the museum. The circular space was divided into four quadrants, each with seating; built on a platform on a rotating turntable. This immersive exhibitions included a combination of screens and back projections, lighting and sculptural elements.
Visions theatre
Digital theatre with integrated sound system and lectern capacity for interactive talks and movie presentations. The projecting system and lectern are linked to the broadcast studio via the fibre optic core that runs though the spine of the Museum.
national museum of australia- Exhibition Integration
The National Museum of Australia, brought together a multidisciplinary team of professionals from across Australia and overseas. Alastair Falconer was responsible for the theatre design of Circa, Visions Theatre and the Broadcast studio as well as K Space computer animation design area, demonstrating high level of technical knowledge in theatre design and technology integration. Further to this, his work as site architect involved extensive documentation of the internal spaces including the Main hall, and 6,600 m2 of gallery space to facilitate the integration of exhibition design including lighting, mechanical, electrical and audio components.
