Project sheet- Malkara School Extension

Project INFORMATION

This project involved comprehensive fitout and structural changes to three classrooms and ablutions areas of Malkara School, in ACT. Malkara provides education for students with a significant intellectual disability and other associated impairments in a positive, student centred environment.

Location

ACT, Australia

Interesting elements

The upgrade responded to the school philosophy of providing engaging multi-use spaces with natural light from skylights, indoor-outdoor connections and colourful soft patterning. The classrooms also fulfilled specific functional needs including noise absorption through the linings of ceilings and walls and the balance between privacy and supervision for ablution areas.

The project needed to be carried out during school operational times, without significant disturbance and with minimal physical separation
