The prime minister’s lodge

The extensive refurbishment or the Prime minister’s residence in Canberra from design through to construction site attendance, required a finely-tuned sensitivity to the significant social and heritage values of the building and surrounding gardens.

Some of the works done included the replacement of the slate roof and associated roofing components, internal demolition, a new commercial kitchen within a fire rated area in the house, staff and operations fit out, electrical rewiring, removal of hazardous materials, plumbing repairs, upgrades to the heating and cooling system and installation of a fire protection system, bathroom refurbishments and code compliant glass balustrades inconspicuously behind the originals.

The Refurbishment Works Project at The Lodge works were undertaken in accordance with heritage requirements on a Commonwealth Heritage Listed place.
